We met in 2006 through a mutual friend (thanks Michelle!) and first impressions weren’t that great…
But Simon persevered and 7 years later finally persuaded Daisy to go on holiday-just a low-cost budget getaway obviously………
After daily rejection Simon finally had the brainwave of using Daisy’s competitiveness to get her to date him by challenging her to a games night-if he won Daisy would be his girlfriend! Unfortunately Daisy was naive and trusting and did not realise Simon would resort to CHEATING!!!!!!
As the realisation hit Daisy that she would have to date Simon her reaction was caught on camera…
It was the most romantic acceptance ever! “So Daisy, will you be my girlfriend?” “Well I don’t really have a choice do I?”
(4 months later Simon admitted that he had actually CHEATED in every single game-and still lost 2 of the games!)
OK OK OK I’ll do the real story! But beware for smushiness…..
We were friends for ages, and Daisy was stupid enough to not realise that Simon had fancied her all along-to the extent that she unintentionally (honest!) sabotaged all his plans to get her alone by always inviting loads of other people along when Simon arranged to meet up with her whenever she returned from whichever country she happened to be living in….
Simon was FINALLY brave enough (or drunk enough) to kiss Daisy one evening in Wimbledon-after which she promptly moved to North Wales, then Poland, then California! But that was a defining moment, and from then on we were in constant contact (especially when Daisy needed computer programming for her thesis, or Simon was looking for an international iPhone smuggler!)
And so Simon has convinced Daisy she no long wants to move countries every few months, and actually wants to settle down (shock horror!) and Daisy has convinced Simon that he does not want the newest Apple product the instant it comes out (ha-just kidding, that will never happen!)
…So please join us to celebrate the start of ‘happily ever after’!
